Competition Training

At Wolf Song Acres K9 Academy, we offer specialized training programs to prepare your dog for competitive events. Our comprehensive training covers Rally, Conformation, and Competition Obedience. Each program is designed to bring out the best in your dog, ensuring they perform confidently and skillfully in competitions. We also provide opportunities for virtual titling through the AKC, allowing your dog to earn titles without leaving home.

Rally

Our Rally training program focuses on teaching dogs to navigate a course of obedience stations, performing specific tasks at each one. Rally is a fun and engaging way to improve your dog’s obedience and teamwork. We offer training for both in-person and virtual competitions. While virtual scores cannot be used to qualify for the AKC Rally National Championship, they still provide valuable titles and recognition.

Conformation

Conformation training is essential for dogs that are being shown in the breed ring. Our program helps dogs learn to present themselves according to breed standards, highlighting their physical attributes and temperament. We focus on gait, stacking, and overall presentation to ensure your dog stands out in the show ring.

Obedience

Our Competition Obedience training prepares dogs for the precise and demanding tasks required in obedience trials. This program is designed to help owners take their first step into the real show ring while also offering the option of earning virtual titles through the AKC. Whether you aim to compete in live events or prefer the convenience of virtual titling, we provide comprehensive training to ensure your dog excels in obedience competitions.

Competition Training Terms and Conditions

Prerequisites

Basic Obedience Requirement: Dogs must have completed the Basic Obedience Level 1 group class or undergo a consultation to ensure they can safely participate around other dogs.

Class Structure

Scheduled Sessions: Classes will be held weekly on a designated day and time for each event. Schedule of these classes will be listed on our calendar. Clients must RSVP to join a class to confirm attendance. Participants of all training levels can join to work together and learn the specific tasks needed to prepare for competitive events or achieve virtual titles.
Flexible Participation: These classes are open to dogs at various training levels, providing a collaborative environment where handlers can learn and practice competition tasks.
Classes will only be held if there is sufficient interest, with a minimum of two participants required. If the minimum is not met, the class for that day will be canceled.

Private Sessions

One-on-One Training:

For more personalized attention, competition training is also available as private one-on-one sessions tailored to your dog's specific needs and goals.

Virtual Competition Responsibility

AKC Virtual Obedience and Rally: If competing in AKC Virtual Obedience or Virtual Rally, owners are responsible for:
- Filling out the Official AKC Virtual Obedience Test Entry Form.
- Uploading their video to AKC.
- Paying the associated fees ($28 per event).

Additional Fees

Training Fees:

$30 for those who join the weekly classes.
$40 per hour for private one-on-one sessions.
The fees for our training classes are separate from the AKC competition entry fees.
